Gallery Wall

One way to bring interest to a wall, is to create a
GALLERY WALL
The keys to creating an effective one are few and simple!

1- Pick a Main Theme and Stick With it
The theme could be plants, travel photos, maps, ...etc., or could be random where none of the pieces are relevant to each other. Another fun theme is pairs or groups, separated by other groups.

2- Mind the Spacing
Make sure that the spacing between the frames is consistent. So prefer to work on either side of a line, in a swirl pattern, building a mountain, building high-rises, or in a completely organic pattern.

3- Insert Themed and Scattered Pops of Art
The purpose of this is to give the eye a break and a pause, to truly enjoy and pay attention to the displayed pieces. A good example is to hang mirrors, metal or wood artifacts, or other art with a contrasting color.

4- Bold Frames Work Best
They pop out of the wall for a dramatic effect.

5- Incorporate and Mind the Permanent Wall Features.
Treat wall electrical plugs/switches and the TV as part of the art diplay. All the rules apply. Especially with the TV, make sure your pieces distract from it when off, but not when it is on. One effective trick, is to pick art pieces with bold lines or are extremely light in color, or pieces that are unlikely to show on the screen. Tribal prints, sketches, black & white pieces, are great examples. Another effective trick, is to slightly increase the distance between the TV and the art.

6- Do not Get too Close to the End of the Wall.
Keep 4+ inches from the end of the wall. If the art is covering the whole wall, leave a consistent blank frame of nothing around the art.

7- Mind the Furniture
Make sure that pieces are at least 6 inches above furniture against the wall. It is easier on the eye, and sustains the practical purpose of the furniture.
