Let's Lattice

It is typically an interlaced structure
consisting of strips of wood or metal, crossed and fastened together
in a repetitive pattern or theme, with shaped spaces left between.

In spite of their aesthetic potential, they are used typically as a screen or fence, as a support for climbing plants, or to provide shade. The enchanting and mesmerizing reoccurring visual effect, also carried the concept onto other limitless variations and applications for decorative as well as structural purposes, indoors and outdoors.

Anne Fairfax of Fairfax and Sammons: "I created this bit of theater in the rear "garden" of a townhouse in Greenwich Village. The space was very dismal, narrow and backing up to a tall brick apartment building. I tricked the eye with perspectival lattice, and in stalled mirror behind it to create the illusion of depth. The restricted palette of blue and white, with the green lattice, and the herringbone brick terrace just seemed a natural."
