Tips to Create an Effective Home Office

- Pick the perfect spot. Consider foot traffic, noise and lighting. Lighting should be comfortable and sufficient, and on the opposite side of the hand you use the most. Main source of lighting should not be directed at your face, nor coming from behind you. Pay attention to shadows and reflections from lamps and windows.

- Layout is everything. Your furniture show be there to work for you. Once you figure out the most comfortable and practical arrangement, the rest will follow.

- Set your place for purposeful productive work only, without any outside distractions or interruptions. Make a list of what you need to achieve each day, in order of urgency and priority, and kill it.

- Create a peaceful work space, where you feel light and focused. Think of what you see and feel when you enter the room or space. Make it a habit to declutter when you take a break and when done. Hiding irrelevant items, including cords and trash, for example, makes it feel less overwhelming to be in the space.

- Display your trophies and sources of motivation. Nothing lifts your spirits more than reminding yourself of how far you can go, how much she can achieve, and what you were doing all of this for.

- Create a space that is the right amount of comfortable, enough to avoid back, neck, wrist, and leg pain, but not enough to make you dose off. Do not feel guilty about having a comfortable chair nearby for a break.

- Keep your distractions handy, stress balls or light exercise equipment, for example, would be perfect. Thinks that would provide you with eye breaks (a window view or photo) and snack breaks, are necessary.

- Dress for the occasion. You have no idea how well you perform, and how motivated you get, when you feel and look your best.
